Books I like…

little book of lunchThe Little Book of Lunch by Caroline Craig and Sophie Missing is packed full of ideas and recipes to ensure lack lustre packed lunches are long forgotten. Like Julie Andrews  I love anything in brown paper packages tied up with string so the photograph on the cover won me over before I’d even opened the book. However I wasn’t disappointed with what filled the pages and sandwich options suggested within. My favourite things so far consist of the Enid Blyton inspired watercress sandwich polished off nicely with a salted caramel brownie. Sandwiches are just a slice of whats on offer, from salads to soups, Deconstructed Pesto pasta to Faux Pho’s the options are anything but fake. In fact the photography and design alone is a feast I’m more than happy to digest. Inventive and fun but most importantly practical this book is sure to transform not just your lunch but your food shopping, store cupboards and overall appetite for good honest grub.
