My Hidden Bulb Cake takes my previous blooming bake cake to a new hidden levels, this time underground. Beneath the chocolate soil lies a dense chocolate and beetroot loaf cake with hidden baked bulbs. The addition of beetroot provides the crumb with a sweet earthiness that compliments the ground almonds in both the cake mixture and marzipan. Marzipan is found not only within the bulbs but around the outside of the cake in the colour and form of a terracotta pot. As a result the entire cake can be sliced through, revealing a hidden showcase of almond cupcake bulbs with whole almonds at their core. Bake, bloom and slice through to new hidden depths of cake, labeled accordingly with ‘Blooming Bakes’.
