My Hot Choc Cross Buns celebrate both National Chilli day and my affection for Hot Cross buns, which I’m pleased to say and see are everywhere right now as Easter and Spring approach. However Spring temperatures are still a little far off so I thought I’d embrace the idea of heat by re-inventing the traditional hot cross bun and incorporating pieces of chilli chocolate within the spiced orange dough. Providing both a twist and hot chocolate hit. Presenting them on a chalk board with a noughts and crosses grid makes them a fun and edible way to play the game and enjoy the bake. Especially with mugs of steaming hot chocolate with a chilli infused in the milk to add an extra spicy kick of heat.
