Lemon and Lavender Butterfly cakes

My Lemon and Lavender Butterfly Cakes inject a feeling of floral springtime, despite the lack of springtime weather outside! Made using my own lemon and lavender sugar the cakes themselves are light and delicately flavoured. The buttercream filling is laced with a homemade lemon and lavender syrup, which I also use to drizzle over the cakes when baked. Finally the addition of the lavender stalk arranged in the centre of the cakes wings, references both the central ingredient and adds to appearance of a butterfly.
