The 10th Oct is World Porridge Day, a day and food I’m particularly fond of. In fact I could quite happily eat porridge every day of the week and whatever the time of day. One reason I’m very much looking forward to this Friday, 16th October where I’ll be judging the London Porridge Championships hosted by Rude Health at Whole Foods Kensington. Now in it’s third year the championships have attracted a great accolade of culinary creations and talent, all of which demonstrate the diversity and popularity of the dish. Previous innovative concoctions have included stewed apples with butterscotch miso and cinnamon as well as a maple-bacon-blueberry-pancake combo. To enter your own favourite creation you can apply via Waitrose here and be in with the chance to win an invite to re-create your dish on the day. In an ode to the oat I have decided to create a new blog header and hashtag to champion porridge in all it’s grains and guises. Here’s to #PorridgeEtc the championships and putting porridge very much on the map.
