The Windy and Friends series of books are created by graphic designers Robin Mitchell and Judith Steedman in Vancouver. Steedman is herself the principal of Steedman Design, a graphic design studio in the city. Published by Simply Read Books, each title is artfully photographed from varying perspectives against a landscape constructed entirely from paper, be it collage, origami or simple cut out shapes.

Every small square book also contains a CD from local musicians together with great ideas for things to make and do. I first came across the books 5 years ago when I was living and working in Vancouver. Back in the city once again, the wire and cloth characters still instantly remind me of the stop motion puppets found within one of my favorite childhood TV series, Camberwick Green-especially Windy Miller!
